There is less than a month until the world’s largest annual technology conference … Web Summit … comes to Portugal again. Web Summit brings together the people and companies that are redefining the global tech industry. It brings together stakeholders and major participants in the Internet and technology industries. Ranging from Fortune 500 companies to tech startups. Aside from that, it attracts investors, corporate executives and international journalists like channel 4’s Ben De Pear and Erika Allan.

Web Summit’s first conference was held in 2012, two years after its launch. As the company has grown, it has organized multiple events around the world, such as Collision and Rise. Additionally, over 70,000 people are expected at this year’s Lisbon Web Summit.

What to expect this year:

More than 350 speakers will join this year’s event, including Microsoft President Brad Smith, Deliveroo CEO Will Shu, TikTok creator Griffin Johnson, Chief Scientist at McAfee Raj Samani, and head of AI Product & Strategy at ServiceNow Jean-François Gagné.

Many companies have already confirmed they will exhibit at Web Summit, including Cisco Systems, Siemens, Google, AWS and Facebook.

As part of the event, roundtables and masterclasses will be held to facilitate access to experts and the possibility to engage in deep discussions on certain topics. For example, AWS will host a session on “Getting started with AI in the cloud”. Ali Rezai’s “Digital health privacy in a pandemic” session also sounds intriguing.

Things to keep an eye out for :

With over 900+ talks, roundtables, Q&A’s and masterclasses sessions it is virtually impossible to attend every single one.

At Web Summit 2019, when I attended for the first time, I planned out which events I would see. Sabrina Soussan’s talk about the future of mobility was by far my favourite.

This year, here are the following talks I am most intrigued about :

1. “Survive and Advance: Adapting at the top of your game” hosted by Klitschko.

2. “The everywhere cloud” hosted by David Werner.

3. “Taking control of your data back” hosted by Brittany Kaiser, Carissa Véliz and James Ball.

Want to find out more :

The event will be running from November 1st till the 3rd.To purchase tickets and get more information, visit the Web Summit website.

If you are attending any interesting talks, please let me know. I cannot wait to meet all of you.

Bonne Journee.
